Crystal Lake Teen Charged in Stabbing Fight

Tyler J. Sharbaugh, 18, of Crystal Lake, was arrested Saturday following a fight on Uteg Street where one victim was stabbed in the back.

A Crystal Lake teenager was arrested Saturday following a fight where a juvenile was stabbed.

Tyler J. Sharbaugh, 18, 304 Lee Court, Crystal Lake, was arrested at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony. 

Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said officers were called at about 10:22 p.m. Friday, to the 200 block of Uteg Street to the report of a fight in progress. 

Upon arrival, officers found several people including one juvenile male who had been stabbed in the back. The offenders had already fled the scene before police arrived, Dziewior said. 

The injured teen was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released. 

An investigation into this matter ensued, during which a suspect was developed. A search warrant was served simultaneously at the residence of this suspect. 

Sharbaugh was transferred to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock, where he was detained for a bond hearing. Bond was set Monday at $10,000. 

Investigation into this matter continues, with the identity of additional suspects known. Additional charges and arrests are expected.

According to a previous Patch article, Sharbaugh was arrested at April 27, and charged with disorderly conduct, illegal possession/ consumption of alcohol by a minor, battery- making physical contact and aggravated assault- use of deadly weapon or rifle.

He posted $150 bond and was released.
