When I was first starting out as a chiropractor, I often engaged in discussions with 'old timers' They told me that chiropractors helped or cured many ailmentrs and it did not take as many adjustments as today. That got me to thinking about why.
In the old days we ate better, we were more active due to few labor saving devices and fewer jobs that entailed sitting all day. One thing is that we were more active because we had to be and we were healthier because of this. Good healthy people need fewer adjustments when they"catch a bug" because our nervous systems have healthier metabolism to work with. Today we come out of the womb with toxic chemicals already from the placental blood supply. We grow up in less active, more stressful, and more toxic environments than our grandparents did.
I think this is one reason that chiropractic patients got well faster in the "old days", because we had less "junk" in our bodies and we were more flexible because we walked more and reached more and climbed more. A couple of 'large keys' to health is motion and proper diet. Lets make a new resolution to stick with last years resolution to get in shape and eat right so that next year we can look back and say we succeeded.
