Football: USA Today Ranks Cary-Grove 9th in State

USA Today has released its national rankings for high school teams.

USA Today has released their national rankings of high school football teams for the 2013 season, and of the 579 teams in Illinois, Cary-Grove High School ranked 7th.

In the list, Cary-Grove's defense is ranked 12th in the state and their offense is ranked 10th. Nationally, Cary-Grove is ranked 185th, according to USA Today. 

Cary-Grove went 13-1 during the 2012 season. Find Cary-Grove's 2013 season schedule here.

Locally, Marian Central Catholic High School also fared well ranking 16th in the state, according to USA Today. The team's defense was ranked 29th in the state and its offense ranked 15th in the state.

Here is how USA Today ranked other local teams: Crystal Lake South High School was ranked 51st in the state, Huntley High School was ranked 70th in the state and H.D. Jacobs High School ranked 72nd in the state. 

The top five Illinois teams according to the ranking are: No. 1 Mt. Carmel, Chicago; No. 2 Loyola Academy, Wilmette; No. 3 Lincoln-Way East, Frankfort; No. 4 Glenbard West and No. 5 Neuqua Valley, Naperville.
