Teen Impaled After Falling on Wooden Stake in Cary

Teenager was attempting to jump over a fence located on Alma Terrace in Cary.

A young man was airlifted for medical treatment after he was impaled by a wooden stake near 345 Alma Terrace in Cary on Wednesday.

The man was attempting to jump over a fence at about 4:51 p.m. June 19, and inadvertently fell onto the stake, impaling him, according to Lt. Michael Douglass, public information officer for the Cary Fire Protection District.

The Northwest Herald is reporting that the victim is a 19-year-old Wauconda man. 

Douglass said attending paramedics determined the victim needed to be transported to a Level 1 Trauma Center because of his injuries.

Paramedics requested a Flight for Life Helicopter, and the young man was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he is listed in fair condition, Douglass said.
