'Mack Manor' Offers Drive-Thru Halloween Haunting

Enjoy a Halloween Haunted House experience from the convenience (and safety!) of your car at Mack Manor in unincorporated McHenry County.

The Mack family has converted the traditional Halloween Haunted House experience into the convenience of a drive-through.

"Mack Manor" is opening for scaring from 6 to 9 p.m. every night through Halloween.

The house is located at Algonquin Road (not Route 62), between Algonquin and Fox River Grove (just east of Hilltop near Fox River Grove).

Nestled among the wooded driveway there are about one-half dozen animatronics, plenty of Halloween displays and live monsters (actors) on weekends. Donations are accepted by feeding the monster.

The Mack family, now retired, runs the Haunted driveway for fun.

"We used to organize the Mack Manor Haunted House in Fox River Grove, but retired several years ago," said Laura Mack. "Retirement didn't sit well, so we started this up. Before Mack Manor we had a haunted house in our backyard in Palatine."

The Macks said they average about 20 visiting carloads of people on the weeknights, and more than 50 on the weekends.
