Dr. Mark Smith, President of Columbia International University, has nearly two decades of experience as a Christian higher education administrator. His dedication and passion have helped shape the lives of thousands of students and peers alike.

Prior to accepting his current position at CIU, Mark Smith served as the president of Ohio Christian University. During his time at OCU, Mark Smith led a team of experts in growing the university from 400 to more than 4,600 students. He also helped fund 20 million dollars in facilities. Prior to his work at Ohio Christian University, Dr. Smith served as Dean and later Vice President for Adult and Graduate Studies from 2001 through 2005 at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Dr. Mark Smith’s extensive resume includes a long list of community involvement — serving on various corporate boards, holding numerous professional memberships, and even holding political office. Today, as the President of CIU, Mark Smith plans to continue to grow enrollment and take Christ to the nations through the means of technology. A Bible-centered entrepreneur who has trained for 20 years to lead a university, Dr. Mark A. Smith ensures God is at the center of everything he does.
