Powerball has climbed to $222 milion, and Mega Millions has reached $139 million.
The Powerball Lottery soared to $222 million after no one matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing, and Mega Millions rolled Friday night to $139 million, according to the Illinois Lottery. “This much dough calls for a bake sale,” according to the Lottery’s favorite fictitious anchorman Gil Mitchell. Although Friday’s jackpot didn’t produce a mega winner, Illinois had a Match 5 $250,000 Mega Millions winner at the Tinley Corner Store, 9410 179th St. in Tinley Park. Wednesday’s jackpot could go up higher, lottery officials said.
Jozefa S. is an Illinois State Lottery winner with a bit of advice on playing the lottery: “you can’t win if you don’t play so go ahead and play.” A lot of people will be plucking down $2 for a Powerball ticket in one of the lottery’s biggest jackpots of the year. The jackpot is now $500 million and may grow larger by Wednesday’s drawing, lottery officials said. “When (the jackpot) is this large, it’s not unusual for the jackpot to go up. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets pumped up again,” said Chanele Newton, a Northstar Lottery Group spokesman. Northstar runs the Illinois State Lottery.
