Cary’s Board of Trustees this week hired its auditor of the past 13 years – Warrenville-based Lauterbach & Amen – for a new job, to manage the village’s books for the next nine months or longer ... if it works out. Although Christopher Clark, Cary’s new village administrator, told trustees that he expects a “seamless” transition, three trustees on the board are not so sure. The Village of Cary has a $15 million budget. Trustees Karen Lukasik, Jeffery Kraus and Robert Bragg voted against the measure. “I want a clear definition of who they answer to,” Lukasik said. “I’m concerned we will lose control.” Lukasik added that she didn’t have time to study documents provided to her at Tuesday night’s board meeting. Downtown dwellers can park for free from 4 p.m. to 12 midnight Monday through Friday.
Downtown parking will be more plentiful, after the Cary Village Board approved free parking in Metra lots from 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday. Parking downtown can be a hassel due to a small amount of spaces avaialble, which sparked a downtown business roundtable discussion a month ago. From the meeting, it was agreed that Metra commuter lot parking lot offers a signficant number of open parking spaces after the daily commute. With the new hours in place, it's still against village code to park a vehicle without payment between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 3:59 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend parking in the Metra lots will remain free.
