Crystal Lake Central Tigers Beat Grant Bulldogs 30-13

The Tigers varsity football team will make its first trip to the quarterfinals next week, the Northwest Herald reports.

  The Crystal Lake Central varsity football team beat the Grant Bulldogs last night at Metcalf field in Crystal Lake in the second round of the Illinois High School Class 5A playoffs. The no. 4 seeded Tigers (9-2) beat the no. 5 seeded Bulldogs, paving the way for their first trip to the quarterfinals next week. Central will play the winner of today's ( 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3) game between number-one seeded Cary-Grove (10-0) and No. 8 Chicago St. Patrick (7-3), according to the Herald. The Tigers broke their postgame huddle with one chant, "History!" the Herald article stated.  Go Tigers! And Go Cary-Grove because it would be awesome to have an inter-district game!

PHOTOS: CL South vs. CL Central Football Game Draws Enthusiastic Fans

It was standing-room only Friday night as the CLS Gators welcomed cross-town rivals, the CL Tigers to their field.

  The weather was warm, the moon was full (although partly hidden behind the clouds), and the stands were packed with fans eager for a good Friday night football game. The evening began with the sophomore squads from Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central competing. The match was somewhat close, but the South Gators won by a score of 14-7. Then, the big boys took to the Ken Bruhn Field. Both teams had hundreds of fans, many painted green or orange from head to toe. Some onlookers were armed with horns, and others made noise the old-fashioned way- screaming and cheering. The Crystal Lake South marching band, color guard and poms gave a great performance, even playing the Tigers school song in a good-will gesture to their cross-town …
