Grammy Winner Delfeayo Marsalis, Performs at Raue Center

Producer and jazz master and his octet will take on the music of Duke Ellington this Saturday night at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.

Grammy Award-winning producer and NEA Jazz Master Delfeayo Marsalis brings "Sweet Thunder"  to the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake. Marsalis and his dynamic jazz octet will perform a fresh take on the music of Duke Ellington at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18, according to a Raue Center press release. "Marsalis will unite the worlds of music and drama, featuring a full stage set, clever props, costuming and monologues by native New Orleans thespian Kenneth Brown, Jr. (of HBO's hit series Treme)," the Raue release stated. Richard Marx to Headline National Piano Conference at Raue Center

Second annual piano conference scheduled for June 27-30 draws young pianists from throughout the country.

The Raue Center for the Arts has announced Richard Marx will headline the 2nd Annual National Piano Conference in June. The conference runs from June 27 - 30, at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake. Marx will perform at 8 p.m. on June 29, according to Alexandra McMillin, marketing and development manager for the Raue. A songwriter, producer and performer, Marx has sold more than 30 million albums, scored 14 chart-topping singles and earned a Grammy for song of the year, McMillin said in a release. The Chicago native's chart-topping hits include “Hold on to the Nights,” “Don’t Mean Nothing,” “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.” Marx achieved a seven-year string of triumphs that rivaled any in pop-rock music history. Peter Yarrow of the legendary folk group "Peter, Paul and Mary" will perform live at Raue Center for the Arts on April 20. Yarrow's show starts at 8 p.m. at the Raue Center, located at 26 N. Raue Center Awarded Grants

Raue Center for the Arts is the recipient of two grants.

Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake has been awarded two highly regarded grants. The first grant is was from the Foglia Family Foundation to help fund "Mission Imagination," Raue Center’s education outreach program for the area school children, according to Melissa Thomfohrda, director of marketing for the Raue. The organization was also awarded a grant from The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation and the MacArthur Fund for Arts & Culture at The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation in support of Raue Center’s in-house theatre company, Williams Street Repertory, Thomfohrda said. Raue Center for the Arts is located at 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.

Performer Billy Jonas Brings Creative Show to Raue Center

Entertainer Billy Jonas brings his award-winning, creative, interactive and fun for all ages show to the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake. The evening will feature music by Áthas, comedy from Bob Rumba and a performance by Irish dancers from The Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance. Nashville Backstage Series Continues in March

Raue Center’s "Nashville Backstage Series: A Country Cabaret" returns to Crystal Lake at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

The Raue Center for the Arts is welcoming the "Nashville Backstage Series: A Country Cabaret" back to Crystal Lake this Friday. The series features outstanding singer-songwriters straight out of Nashville like Sherrié Austin, Tony Haselden and Will Rambeaux. These country artists have penned hits for music legends like Blake Shelton, Faith Hill and George Strait. The Raue is offering a unique opportunity for guests to hear their favorite songs the way they were meant to be heard. CL Strikers Perform "Evening of Percussion" Saturday at the Raue Center

The Raue Center of the Arts has announced several annual community fundraisers will return to the stage over the next few months. "At Raue Center's core we are a community-based organization and we try to keep that at the forefront of everything we do," said Alex McMillin, marketing and development coordinator for the Raue. The first of those fundraisers is "An Evening of Percussion" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, featuring the Crystal Lake Strikers all-star drumline. The Strikers group is comprised of adult drummers and talented high school drummers from the community. Plus, young drummers from throughout the community will be joining the show.
