District 155 Students Pick Obama for President in Mock Elections

However, students at Prairie Ridge and Crystal Lake Central high schools backed Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

Candidate   Students in Bill Altmann's three Current Issues classes at Crystal Lake South High School had recently participated in an an extensive election studies unit. So when Altmann on Monday handed out an assignment asking students to predict the winner of the 2012 Presidential election, they passed the test. "About 75 percent of the seniors in these three classes picked Obama to win," Altmann said. Altmann and fellow social science teacher Anne Santucci, working with South's student council and National Honor Society, also held a mock election Tuesday open to the entire student body. Prairie Ridge Wolves Host Homecoming, Share Your Photos

Celebration includes pep rally, block party, student dance and homecoming parade.

  Prairie Ridge High School has been celebrating homecoming all week.  The theme for this year's homecoming festivities is "Under the Sea," according to the website for the school, located at 6000 Dvorak Dr., Crystal Lake. The Wolves have packed in several homecoming events today, Friday, Oct. 5. Students will have a school-wide pep rally in the afternoon, followed by the homecoming parade at 4 p.m. Parade Route: the parade will start at the back of the school, travel east on Pleasant Hill. It will enter the Squaw Creek subdivision and loop back to Pleasant Hill, leading back to the school. A block party is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. after the parade on the school grounds. Prairie Ridge Honors Class of 2012

Weather conditions forced ceremonies indoors, but that didn't dampen spirits of the 421 Prairie Ridge seniors graduating on Saturday.

Prairie Ridge High School bid farewell to the Class of 2012. Administrators, teachers, parents and relatives on Saturday morning packed the Prairie Wolves' gymnasium. Additional spectators watched from overflow seating in the school's auditorium, where the ceremony was broadcast on an overhead screen. Prairie Ridge Announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian for 2012

Seniors Katarzyna Robak and Colleen Miller are top of their class.

Prairie Ridge High School has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2012. Of 421 seniors graduating, Katarzyna Robak has earned the school’s top honor of valedictorian. Robak plans to attend Dartmouth College in the fall, according to Jeff Puma, director of communications for Community High School District 155. Colleen Miller earned salutatorian honors. Miller will attend the University of Michigan. Prairie Ridge High School, 6000 Dvorak Dr. in Crystal Lake, is one of four high schools serving District 155. In all, District 155 will graduate 1,715 seniors on Saturday, May 26, Puma said. Wolves Win First State Title

CHAMPAIGN—After two years of losing in the state semifinals, the Prairie Ridge football team finally got to the 6A state finals and made school history Saturday. The Wolves (13-1) won their first state championship with a 35-14 victory over Peoria Richwoods (10-4). Players and fans were building up anticipation after senior cornerback John Borst intercepted the ball with less than a minute remaining. As time expired, everyone jumped and cheered amid many joyful tears. “I’m proud of how our guys handled the entire season,” Prairie Ridge coach Chris Schremp said. “That game you saw tonight is what we’ve been going through the last few weeks — good, hard-nosed football. Our defense came out and played a great game, especially with tackling.” …

GALLERY: Wolves Beat Top-Seeded McHenry

Prairie Ridge baseball team uses big second inning to top McHenry.

Prairie Ridge may be hitting their stride at the right time. The Wolves beat top-seeded McHenry 10-8 in the IHSA Class 4A McHenry Regional held at Petersen Park after exploding for eight runs in the second inning. Prairie Ridge (14-20) will now take on Crystal Lake South  or Cary-Grove in the championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday.
