Amanda Weber: Valedictorian for Prairie Ridge Class 2013

Weber earned valedictorian honors by achieving a 4.573 grade point average.

Community High School District 155 announced Amanda Weber, of Cary, earned valedictorian honors for the Class of 2013 at Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake. Weber was very active during her four years at Prairie Ridge, participating in sports, choir, band and many other extracurricular programs. She also volunteered and participated in several programs at S.S. Peter and Paul Church in Cary. About Amanda Weber: Grade point average: 4.573 ACT: 35 College: DePauw University Intended Major: Undecided Parents: Keith and Nancy Weber Activities while at Prairie Ridge: Proudest Accomplishment: Going to the Illinois High School Association state track meet for the 200 meter dash this year.    

Margaret Schlofner: Salutatorian for Prairie Ridge Class 2013

Senior earned salutatorian honors with a 4.533 grade point average.

Community High School District 155 announced Margaret Schlofner, of Crystal Lake, earned salutatorian honors for the Class of 2013 at Prairie Ridge High School. Schlofner was actively involved in musicals at Prairie Ridge in Crystal Lake and plans to pursue a major in opera vocal performance. Prairie Ridge Football Players Fill Sandbags for Flood Victims

When Nunda Township sent out a call for help, 25 players from the Prairie Ridge High School Varsity Football team answered.

Last month's flooding impacted many McHenry County residents, particularly those living along the Fox River. Nunda Township workers and volunteers worked for days making sandbags to help protect homes from rising waters. The township issued a robocall and press releases seeking volunteers to help fill the bags. A plea for help was included in the morning announcements at Prairie Ridge High School, 6000 Dvorak Dr., located not far from the Nunda Township headquarters. Head varsity football coach Chris Schremp knew he had the right guys for the job. Several football players were already planning to hit the gym for weight lifting that day so Schremp suggested a variation to the routine. "The players skipped the weight lifting and went to fill…

New Principals Announced for CL South, Prairie Ridge High Schools

The Community High School District 155 Board at its Tuesday meeting approved appointments of new principals.

The Community High School District 155 Board of Education approved Scott Shepard and Dr. Steven Koch as the new principals for Crystal Lake South High School and Prairie Ridge High School, respectively. The appointments follow the February announcement that current principals Marsha Potthoff, at CL South, and Paul Humpa, at Prairie Ridge, will move into new positions for the 2013-2014 school year. The changes become effective on July 1, according to District 155 spokesperson Jeff Puma.  District 155 conducted a national search that yielded nearly 80 qualified applicants for the principal positions. Prairie Ridge Co-Op Gymnastics Take 2nd in State

Final competitions were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Palatine High School.

UPDATE Sunday, Feb. 17: The Prairie Ridge co-op girls gymnastics team took second place on Saturday in the IHSA State Gymnastics finals held at Palatine High School. The team entered the final competitions on Saturday in first place, holding a slight lead over Lyons Township High School, which managed to grab the championship title by day's end on Saturday. Area Gymnasts Head to State Meet

Gymnasts from the Prairie Ridge High School co-op team will compete at the state meet this weekend at Palatine High School.

Crystal Lake South Girls Basketball Beats Prairie Ridge in Regional Semifinal

Crystal Lake will play Cary-Grove High School on Friday.

Crystal Lake South's girls basketball team overtook Prairie Ridge 42-36 in the Class 4A Crystal Lake South Regional semifinal Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Crystal Lake South will now play Cary-Grove High School in a title game Friday, according to the Tribune.

District 155 Cheerleading Teams Advance to Sectionals

Competitive cheerleading teams from Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake Central, Cary-Grove and Crystal Lake South heading to the Byron Sectional on Saturday.

  All four Community High School District 155 schools will be represented at the Byron Sectional Cheerleading Competition on Saturday, the Northwest Herald reports. Cary-Grove, Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central's competitive cheerleading squads will participate in the Large Team Division, the Herald reports. Crystal Lake Central's cheer team won the Fox Valley Conference Division title on Monday. The top five teams from the sectionals will advance to the state competition in Bloomington on Feb. 1-2, according to the article.
