'Sandy Hook Promise' Takes Message to the World

Members of the organization are looking to have Sandy Hook remembered as a place where 'real change began,' and they ask you to make the promise.

  From Newtown Patch: Flanked by fellow grieving Sandy Hook parents and an enlarged photo of her late daughter, Nelba Marquez-Greene explained why she has taken the Sandy Hook Promise. “On Dec. 14, I put two children on the bus and only one came home,” she said. “I pray that no mother, father, grandparent or caregiver of children ever have to go through this pain.” That is what members of the organization Sandy Hook Promise hope to achieve through their mission, which was explained in detail at Edmond Town Hall Monday morning. Newtown Patch: Up to 27 Dead, 18 Children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School

A gunman shoots at staff, children at a Newtown (CT) elementary school.

The gunman who is believed to have shot and killed 27 people including 18 children at the Sandy Elementary School has been found dead inside the school. Authorities have said the FBI and New Jersey State Police were assisting by searching the New Jersey home of the 20-year-old gunman's father. NBC Channel 4 reported at 2:15 p.m. that law enforcement sources have told them the gunman's mother has been found dead in her residence. Her hometown has not been disclosed. Citing sources, the Associated Press is reporting the gunman who rampaged through the Sandy Hook Elementary School was armed with four guns including a high-powered rifle and is believed to have shot and killed 27 people including 18 children.
