Retired Lake Zurich Police Officer Kristopher Zak, 46, died unexpectedly, of natural casuses, on Dec. 14, according to a news release from the Lake Zurich Police Department. Zak lived in Crystal Lake with his wife, Connie, and two children, Ian and Ryan. “Kris was born and raised in Lake Zurich and he was very proud to be a Lake Zurich police officer. He was especially proud of his time as a DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer,” recalled Commander David Bradstreet of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Bradstreet said Zak did well as a DARE officer as is evidence from his files which were filled with "thank you" notes from former students. “Chris left here in good standing. Maxwell S. Younger, 21, was charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery.
Lake Zurich Police charged a 21-year-old Wheeling man with three felony counts of aggravated battery in the Dec. 5 stabbing of a North Barrington man in the Lake Zurich McDonald’s parking lot, according to Commander David Bradstreet. Maxwell S. Younger, of 699 Cherrywood Dr. Wheeling, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The charges are class 3 felonies and are punishable by two to five years in a state penitentiary. Younger's bond was set at $50,000. He is in custody of the Lake County Sheriff, said Bradstreet. The Lake Zurich Police have released photos from McDonald's surveillance cameras of a suspect in the Dec. 5 stabbing of a North Barrington 21-year-old. See: North Barrington Man Stabbed in Lake Zurich McDonald's Parking Lot Commander David Bradstreet said police obtained the surveillance video from McDonald's and were able to identify the suspect based on the timing and witnesses' confirmation. A Crystal Lake man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in Lake Zurich. Benjamin S. Gellman, 28, 922 Coventry Lane, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Aug. 28, pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 22 at Route 12 by Lake Zurich Police. Gellman was charged with one count of improper lane usage, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis, according to Lake Zurich Patch. Gellman was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 24.
