Kane County Sheriff’s deputies report Route 20 closed from Nessler to Plank Road.
UPDATED 7 PM, WEDNESDAY, MAY 15 A 21-year-old Sycamore woman died Wednesday in a motorcycle accident on Route 20 in Elgin Township. Angela Hansen, of the 1600 block of Sparkhayes Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Kane County Sheriff’s office said. Hansen was driving a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle stopped on Plank Road facing north while waiting to make a turn east on Route 20, sheriff’s deputies said. The motorcycle began turning, accelerated rapidly then crossed the roadway and struck a semi-trailer. Hansen was thrown from the motorcycle. The driver of the semi truck, Christopher Portner, of Stockton, was not injured. No tickets have been issued and the crash remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Detectives and members of the …

Authorities said the remains belong to a Hampshire woman missing since May.
Updated Monday, Nov. 26: Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives were able to positively identify the remains located behind 1811 Cameron Dr. as those of Kathey Wilk. The cause of death is undetermined; however investigators do not suspect that foul play was involved in her death, according to a Kane County Sheriff's release. ______________ Hampshire police discovered skeletal remains Friday while searching for a woman missing since May, authorities said. Kathey Wilk, 52, of 1731 Cameron Drive, was reported missing on May 7 by her brother. Traffic stop on Interstate 90 leads to huge cannabis haul.
Kane County sheriff’s deputies confiscated 84 pounds of high-grade cannabis, worth an estimated $250,000 during a traffic stop Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 90. A deputy stopped Brian Ballestrasse, the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck, on charges of speeding and following too closely on I-90 near the Randall Road overpass at 12:40 p.m., according to reports. During the stop, the deputy developed information leading him to believe Ballestrasse, 62, Kent, Wash., might be involved in drug trafficking and requested the K9 unit from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office to the scene, reports stated. Why did It take 6 months to search the wooded area behind her house? Was anyone looking for her? Are there so many speeders and revenue benefitting crimes in Kane County, that the Sheriff was just too busy to spare a guy and a dog? Something is missing in this story.   more ›
