Huntley resident Bill Reining thinks he was in the right place at the right time after winning $325,000 in the April 26 Lucky Day Lotto drawing. “I usually go to the fitness center in the morning, and then on my way home I stop at the store to get my Lucky Day Lotto quick pick ticket," Reining said. "On this day, for no reason, I went to the store first.” Reining believes this change in his schedule may have led to his lottery windfall, according to an Illinois Lottery press release. Later that day, Reining went to www.illinoislottery.com to check the winning Lucky Day Lotto numbers. Wladyslaw Krawiec said he "prayed for a little bit of help."
Lady Luck has touched Cary once again. Cary resident Wladyslaw Krawiec showed up for work as usual just six days before Christmas, but was told to go back home. "My boss said there was no more work for us so I picked up my tools, left the job site and drove home," Krawiec said in a press release. On his way home, he said a little prayer asking for "a little bit of help" and stopped at a gas station to check his Lucky Day Lotto ticket from the previous night's drawing. Christmas just got a little brighter for one Crystal Lake resident. The Illinois Lottery announced Susan Wolek won the Nov. 19 drawing for the Lucky Day Lotto. Wolek matched all five winning numbers for the jackpot and won $275,000, Lottery officials said in a press release. “Christmas will be different this year because now we have more to give,” Wolek said in the release. “It’s wonderful to be able to help your family, what a nice feeling.” Last month, Wolek stopped for gas at the Crystal Lake Mart, 770 Virginia Rd., Crystal Lake, and decided to buy one $1 Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick. “I usually play $1 a week because I always believed that it only takes one ticket to win,” she said. By now, you likely know the winning Powerball tickets from Wednesday's $550 million drawing were sold in Arizona and Missouri. Those winning tickets matched all five of the five numbers and the Powerball number. Each winner will receive about $293.7 million. However, right here in Illinois, two ticket holders matched all five numbers as well (but not the Powerball number) and will receive $1 million each. Those tickets were sold at Casey's General Store in Fairmont, Ill., and Barts Supermarket in Flanagan, Ill., according to the Illinois Lottery results page. What better way to pay for all that Halloween candy than being one of four million dollar winners in the Illinois Lottery's Halloween raffle? There were several $1,000 winners, as well.
Cary appears to be one lucky little town. One of four winning Illinois Lottery's Halloween Millionaire Raffle tickets was sold at 7-11, 296 Cary-Algonquin Rd., Cary, Lottery officials have announced. The winning Cary ticket number is 279505, and the holder of that ticket has not come forward, yet, said Mike Lang, of the Illinois Lottery. The other three million dollar raffle tickets were sold at Boston's Gourmet Pizza in Tinley Park, 4T Liquor Corral in Streamwood, and Ayer Co. in Petersburg, according to the Illinois Lottery. However, a long list of people who played the Halloween Millionaire Raffle game will walk away with $1,000 prizes including two more tickets purchased at Cary establishments, and two bought in Crystal Lake.
