Gas Prices Up in Crystal Lake, Cary

Motorists across Illinois have been paying more at the pumps this week, more than the majority of states, according to AAA. Here are the lowest prices in the Crystal Lake-Cary area.

The majority of states may be experiencing a drop in gas prices, but not Illinois and other parts of the Midwest, according to AAA. Record rainfall that led to flooding and reduced production related to refineries shifting over to "summer-blend" gasoline are part of the reason, reports AAA. There was also an explosion at a Detroit refinery on April 27, though that incident was not expected to contribute to higher prices for motorists. The current average price for regular unleaded in Illinois is $3.95. Last month, the average was $3.84. A year ago the average was $4.02. The highest recorded average was $4.31 on May 5, 2011, according to AAA. Crystal Lake, Cary Gas Prices As of Sunday, the following gas stations had the lowest prices for …

Gas Prices Continue to Rise; Crystal Lake, Cary Prices Well Above National Average

CNN Money reported Monday the average price for a gallon of gasoline in America is $3.73. Gas prices in Crystal Lake and Cary are even higher.

Most motorists have noticed that the price of gasoline has done nothing but rise over the past month. CNN Money reported Monday that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in America has increased more than 13 percent over the past 32 days to $3.73. As of Tuesday morning, gas prices in Crystal Lake and Cary ranged from $3.85 at the Citgo at 471 West Virginia Avenue in Crystal Lake to $3.99 at the BP station at 400 Silver Lake Road in Cary, according to GasBuddy.com CNN Money is crediting the price increase to a combination of factors including rising crude oil prices, production cuts and refinery closings.  The Chicago Tribune reported last week a number of refinery issues in the area have affected the gas prices …

Hey Bob, for that you can thank people like D Durbin, who pass bill after bill forcing compliance with several different nonsense grades of refined gas, each one costing billions and billions of dollars. Hey likes to hide in the shadows and point fingers at the big bad oil man. You can also blame Durbin for taxes built into the price as a percentage, so the government grabs more with each penny …   more ›

Patch Poll: Is it Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down for Economy?

What do the numbers mean to you?

The economy added about 120,000 jobs in March. The jobless rate ticked down a percentage point to 8.2. Gas prices appear to have peaked and are coming down. These signs could be interpreted that the economy is improving. However, some of these numbers come with a “But … .” The Labor Department reported that employers added 120,000 jobs to their payrolls last month, but well below economists’ forecasts for a 203,000 gain. The unemployment rate fell, but experts said it was largely due to discouraged job hunters giving up the search for work. And, gas prices. They may have peaked, but will they rise again during the high-demand summer months? What do you think?

How High Will Gas Prices Go, What Affect Will That Have on Economy?

Have the rise in gas prices had an affect on the way you get to work or on travel plans? Let us know in our comments' section.

Gas prices are on the rise.  AAA Chicago’s most recent Fuel Gauge Report estimates that in Illinois, regular unleaded gasoline has increased seven cents during the past month, forecasting an average cost of $3.57 per gallon for the month of February, which is 27 cents higher per gallon than last year. “February’s gas prices were extremely volatile, with a period of decreasing prices and days when the Chicago region’s averages were lower than the national average, which has never happened before,” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago, in a Thursday press release. “We also saw periods of high day-over-day price jumps at the end of the month, which escalated prices very quickly.” Locally, gas prices hovered around the…

There it is again, the blame the speculators fantasy. Tell me, how does that work? If you really believe this, why not buy oil futures? Oil is expensive because the dollar is devalued from huge debt. The lower the value, the more US dollars it costs to import oil. Basically these stimulus failure from Obama are to blame.   more ›

AAA: Gas Prices Reach Highest Ever For State, Area

The average prices for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the Chicago area is $4.41.

The Chicagoland area broke a record this past week but do not be surprised if no one is celebrating over this one. Gas prices for Chicago and the Chicago suburbs reached the highest prices ever this past week at an average of $4.41 per gallon for regular unleaded gas, according to a AAA press release. The state of Illinois has also reached its highest prices ever with the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gas at $4.28, according to AAA. The previous record for gas prices was set in July 2008. AAA provided the following tips on how to conserve gas: Instead of making quick starts and sudden stops, go easy on the gas and brake pedals. If there is a red light ahead, ease off the gas and coast up to it rather than waiting until the …
