Residents can get an overview of upcoming road construction projects.
Crystal Lake is hosting a 2013 Road Construction Open House on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The open house will be held at City Hall, 100 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake. Members of the public can attend at any time during these hours to view information regarding the upcoming construction projects planned throughout the city. Improvements could slow traffic near Route 14 and Lakeshore Drive on Wednesday.

The Crystal Lake Public Works Department will be making improvements to a sewer main on Route 14 on Wednesday, April 3, between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., according to Victor Ramirez, director of public works. Traffic on Route 14 at Lakeshore Drive will be slowed around the work zone, and will be limited to one lane of traffic in each direction. Lakeshore Drive will be inaccessible from Route 14, Ramirez said in a press release. Motorists who would like to access Lakeshore Drive will be detoured one block south to Dole Avenue. In addition, northbound Route 14 will be reduced to one lane at Pine Street. Pine Street will be inaccessible at this intersection during the work. Are you hoarding holiday lights? You know, the strings where half the lights work? Strands with lights that flicker on and off when you shake them, or twist them just the right way? Perhaps it's time to part ways with those old, unwanted, or unused decorations. And the city of Crystal Lake and village of Cary can help.
