It's not enough for a high schooler to simply ask a girl to be his date for prom. Unless a couple is "officially" dating and it's obvious the two will be attending the prom, today's "prom date proposals" are much more involved and creative. Bail Set in Crystal Lake Central Video Peeping Case

Luke Patrick Gildea has been released on a $15,000 bail.

A Crystal Lake Central High School student accused of planting a camera in a boy's locker room is out on bail following a court appearance Friday, according to the Northwest Herald.  Bond was set at $15,000 for Luke P. Gildea, 17, of Crystal Lake. The high school junior posted the necessary 10 percent, or $1,500 bail, and was released, the NWH reports. Gildea is accused of videotaping "subjects entering and exiting the shower" at the high school , located at 45 W. Franklin St., according to the criminal complaint. Gildea faces two felony counts of unauthorized videotaping, according to online court records. He is next expected in court on March 12.  Gildea was arrested late Thursday night. VIDEO: Crystal Lake Central Dance-A-Thon

Nearly 200 students participated in CLC's Dance-A-Thon on Saturday night to raise money for Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.

  Close to 200 Crystal Lake Central students danced the night away Saturday for a good cause. Every year, Central hosts a charity week. This year, a group of student leaders from Central decided to hold a dance-a-thon to raise money for the children's cardiac unit at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. They were inspired by former student Colleen Gleason who underwent a second heart transplant surgery just last month at Lurie, and by Central guidance counselor Tamara Jazwinski, whose son, Matthew, now a fifth-grader in Cary, had three heart surgeries at Lurie. Central students signed up for the dance-a-thon as teams - 10 people per team, and asked friends and family for donations. Organizers hope to raise $5,000 for Lurie. The total …

District 155 Cheerleading Teams Advance to Sectionals

Competitive cheerleading teams from Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake Central, Cary-Grove and Crystal Lake South heading to the Byron Sectional on Saturday.

  All four Community High School District 155 schools will be represented at the Byron Sectional Cheerleading Competition on Saturday, the Northwest Herald reports. Cary-Grove, Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central's competitive cheerleading squads will participate in the Large Team Division, the Herald reports. Crystal Lake Central's cheer team won the Fox Valley Conference Division title on Monday. The top five teams from the sectionals will advance to the state competition in Bloomington on Feb. 1-2, according to the article.

Local Teams Square Off in First Round of Playoffs This Weekend

Jacobs High School will take on No. 2-seeded Boylan Catholic in Rockford on Saturday.

Several local high school football teams will square off in the first round of playoffs this Saturday.  Jacobs High School football team (5-4) will compete against No. 2-seeded Boylan Catholic (9-0) in Rockford at 1 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Illinois High School Association website.  Huntley High School (6-3) will play No. 7-seeded Fenwick High School (7-2) in Oak Park at 7 p.m. Saturday in Oak Park, according to the IHSA. No. 1-seeded Cary-Grove High School (9-0) will host Rockford's Auburn High School (5-4), a No. 16 seed, in the first round of the playoffs Saturday in class 6A. Cary-Grove Ends Central's Season

Trojans use two Baker touchdowns to get 17-7 win over Tigers in Class 6A first round game.

Cary-Grove and Crystal Lake Central High Schools are separated by only about six miles. On Friday night, the Tigers and Trojans faced off in the first round of the IHSA Class 6A football playoffs. C-G quarterback Quinn Baker scored twice as sixth-seeded Cary advanced with a hard-fought 17-7 win at Al Bohrer Field over the No. 11 Tigers. C-G (8-2) will go on the road next week to face either No. 3 seed Nazareth or No. 14 Deerfield. Cary got on the scoreboard first with a six-minute drive that finished with Baker going in from a yard out to give C-G a 7-0 lead.
