Patch Comic: Obama Sees Rough Months Ahead

What is it that has the president so pessimistic as spring unfolds? Oh ... that.

Sunday funnies.

What is actually comical is that Obama, just today, proclaimed April to be the month to teach youngsters how to budget responsibly. Yes, it does sound like an April Fool's joke, but the joke is on us...ha ha...our share of the national debt has increased over $50,000 per household since Obama has been president. The Democrat led Senate just passed their first budget in 4 years, and guess what? It…   more ›

'Cancer Kiss My Cooley' Cheers Cubs Against Brewers

Fundraiser planned for Huntley-based charity that raises money and awareness of pediatric brain tumors.

Carter Kettner threw out the first pitch at a 2009 Chicago Cubs game. Former pitcher Randy Wells held Carter’s hand as the two walked onto the field. Carter threw out the ball as his everyone cheered. The young Huntley boy died in May 2010 of a brain tumor. But the images of that day remain dear to his family. His parents wrote “these two minutes in my son’s life will be in our minds and hears forever,” on YouTube where a video of the day is posted. Cancer Kiss My Cooley was created in Carter’s memory. And it is fitting that the charity is holding a baseball outing to a Chicago Cubs game to raise funds for the illness that claimed his life. The CKMC Baseball Outing will be Saturday, April 20 when the Cubs play the Milwaukee Brewers at …

I may be niave but I believe given what has happened, should any questionable act occur in forseeable future, those in positions of authority will act quickly and properly so as not to incur the same fate. You state "My problem with it is that it confirms that what really matters is the money"...I completely disagree, to me its about punishing the wrong doers. How is Jerry Sandusky punished by …   more ›

Patch Flash: Cubs Owner Shares Vision of Future World Series

Chicagoland news to talk about: “Spiderman” holds up gas station.

Before hiring Theo Epstein last week, Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts of Wilmette talked to the Oakland Athletics General Manager Billy Beane. If that name sounds familiar it is because Beane was the subject of the recent movie Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt as Beane, that focused on his sophisticated efforts to develop baseball talent.  Rickets shared this story and his vision for bringing a World Series to Wrigley Field with more than 225 people Tuesday at the NorthShore Senior Center in Northfield. When Occupy Chicago came to the Thompson Center, Gov. Pat Quinn said protesters need to organize for a cause. Could that cause be ComEd rate hikes? At a recent luncheon, he said “It’s important if you’re doing an ‘Occupy’ movement, maybe …
