More than 1,500 people took advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and attended the Blast on the Beach celebration at Main Beach in Crystal Lake.

  Beautiful weather, hidden treasures, a water ski show on the lake and Mr. Myers in the band shell all added up to a perfect end-of-summer celebration at the "Blast on the Beach." The annual event, hosted by the Crystal Lake Park District at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake, attracted about 1,500 people by late afternoon, and more guests arrived later for the evening performance by Caribbean Rock band, Mr. Myers.

CL Jaycees Collecting School Supplies for Kids in Need at 'Blast on the Beach'

Crystal Lake Jaycees will accept school supply donations for McHenry County children in need this Saturday, Aug. 18, at the "Blast on the Beach."

  The Crystal Lake Park District/ BMO Harris Bank "Blast on the Beach" is shaping up to be a super end-of-summer festival. In addition to an incredible line-up of fun and entertainment, "Blast on the Beach" is offering an easy way for attendees to join the spirit of giving back to the community. Because of the generosity of BMO Harris Bank, admission to this year's "Blast on the Beach" is free - for everyone! The Blast is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake. Festival organizers hope attendees will 'pay forward' this generosity by participating in the Crystal Lake Jaycee's School Supply Collection Drive. Mr. Myers Brings Caribbean Rock to 'Blast on the Beach'

Sycamore-based band to bring blend of calypso, reggae and rock to Saturday's "Blast on the Beach" festivities.

  Regulars to area festivals are likely familiar with the sounds of Mr. Myers.  The Sycamore-based band, which formed in 1981, has a universal appeal to music lovers young and old. The band is slated to provide the entertainment for the "Blast on the Beach" at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake. Known for its blend of calypso, reggae and rock 'n roll, Mr. Myers has created its own brand of music the band calls Caribbean Rock, according to the band website. Playing cover tunes by Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffet and Harry Belafonte, the group has created unique versions of energetic songs that are sure to get the "audience on their feet and dancing."  The use of the authentic steel drums gives Mr. Myers its…

  Only four days until the "Blast on the Beach" end-of-summer celebration gets under way. The Blast takes off Saturday, Aug. 18, at Main Beach in Crystal Lake. CL Park District Hosts 'Blast on the Beach' Today

Summer's not over, yet. Stop by the "Blast on the Beach" on Aug. 18, in Crystal Lake to squeeze in a little more summertime fun.

  School supplies line shelves of local stores. Football players are back in the field gearing up for the new season. And moms, dads, teens and kids alike have eyes on the last few days of summer.  Don't put away those flip flops just yet. There's one big end-of-summer bash remaining in Crystal Lake: "Blast on the Beach." The "Blast on the Beach" is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 (rain date Sunday, Aug. 19), at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake.
