Battle of the Bands Rocks Main Beach
Winner of local tournament advances to the Regional Battle of the Bands.
Main Beach will be rockin' as the Crystal Lake Park District hosts the annual Battle of the Bands contest. Six bands will compete starting at 3 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Main Beach band shell, 300 Lake Shore Dr. , Crystal Lake. The first place winner of the showdown advances to the Regional Battle of the Bands contest. The winner of that performs at the Illinois State Fair, said Connie Cooke, recreation supervisor for Crystal Lake Park District. "In 2009, the winner of the Crystal Lake battle of the bands won the local, regional and state competition," Cooke said. That band was called the Con Men, she said. The Battle of the Bands is open to high school students. Prizes for the local contest are awarded for first, second and third place. …
