Internet radio station SportsTownChicago.com (STC) today announced it will host its' second annual High School Girl’s All-Star Volleyball Game to showcase players from across Illinois in one of the most competitive matches of the season. Ashley Rosch and Melanie Jereb will be representing Cary-Grove High School. During the Nov. 8 selection show sponsored by Cheeseburger in Paradise in Downers Grove, 36 girls were chosen to play in the senior All-Star. The names of the selected players were announced live on SportsTownChicago.com, with coaches, teammates and families present to cheer on the players. A look at Friday night's state semifinal for the Trojans
Cary-Grove (36-4) vs. Chicago Marist (34-6) When: Friday, around 9 p.m. (will be played following Class 3A semifinals and first Class 4A semifinal) Where: Redbird Arena, Normal on the campus of Illinois State University The Trojans should be very familiar with the state tournament with this being their third straight trip to Redbird Arena and will face a Marist team that will make their first appearance at the state finals. Cary is on a roll having gone undefeated since Oct. 1, winning 17 straight matches. Ashley Rosch and Melanie Jereb had led the team in kills this season with 331 for Rosch and 298 for Jereb. A look at the week in Trojans athletics
Here’s a look at the week in Cary-Grove athletics…. Football: It was the last game of the regular season Friday night for C-G, looking to end Prairie Ridge’s perfect season. The Trojans did just that with a 22-21 overtime win to finish the season at 7-2. Ryan Mahoney scored the two-point conversion in overtime for the victory. Quinn Baker had 140 yards rushing to lead Cary, who have the No. 6 seed in the northern bracket of the Class 6A bracket and will play at home against No. 11 seed Crystal Lake Central this weekend. This week's Trojans sports results.
Here’s a look at how Cary-Grove’s athletic teams fared this week… Football: Cary clinched their eighth straight playoff berth with a 49-0 win over Dundee-Crown Friday. Quinn Baker ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns while Connor Carlson had 106 yards rushing and two scores of his own. The win moved C-G to 6-2 on the season going into Friday’s season finale at undefeated Prairie Ridge. Volleyball: The Trojans defeated McHenry on Tuesday in two games to begin their week. Ashley Rosch had ten kills and 13 digs for C-G. On Thursday, Cary clinched at least a share for the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division title with a two-game win over Huntley, who had beat the Trojans earlier in the season. Here’s a look at how Cary-Grove’s fall sports teams did this week…. Volleyball: Tuesday night saw the Trojans’ long regular season winning streak come to an end in a three-game loss at Huntley. Melanie Jereb had 15 kills to lead C-G, who suffered their first loss in their last 59 regular season matches. Thursday night, Cary got back on the winning track with a two-game victory over Dundee-Crown as Jereb had 11 kills and Nicole Schuh had 16 digs. The Trojans continued their solid play Friday night with a two-game win over Lake Zurich. Ashley Rosch had eight kills for C-G, who moved to 16-1 on the year. Here’s a look at how Cary’s fall sports teams did this week…. Volleyball: C-G started their week Tuesday with a two-game win over Jacobs as Nicole Schuh led Cary with 11 digs. Cary added a two-game victory against McHenry on Thursday, winning 25-15, 25-12 as Ashley Rosch had seven kills. The Trojans remain undefeated at 15-0 overall and 3-0 in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Boys Soccer: Drew Connor scored three times as the Trojans defeated Crystal Lake Central 8-0 on Tuesday to open the week’s play. On Thursday, Cary continued their streak of shutout play with a 3-0 win against Johnsburg. Connor added two more goals in the win to improve Cary to 7-1 on the season. Another busy week of athletics has passed by for Cary-Grove, here’s a look at what has happened… Volleyball: Cary opened the week with a 25-18, 25-11 win over Fox Valley Conference rival Crystal Lake South on Tuesday as Ashley Rosch had 11 kills. The Trojans defeated Hampshire on Thursday 25-7, 25-19 as Rosch pounded down another seven kills. On Saturday, C-G won their second tournament in as many weeks in taking the Prairie Ridge Tournament. Cary won five matches on the day to improve to 13-0 on the season with wins over Prairie Ridge, St. Charles East, Barrington, New Trier and Nazareth. Here is a look at what happened over the past week in Cary-Grove athletics….. Volleyball: The Trojans opened their 2011 season with a 25-15, 25-12 win over Grayslake North as Melanie Jereb led Cary with nine kills while Ashley Rosch added eight. Saturday brought the Jacobs Tournament and an opportunity for C-G to show they were still in contention for another state title. Cary went 5-0 on the day, defeating Stevenson 25-17, 25-16 in the title game. It was Cary’s second win of the day against the Patriots after defeating them earlier in the day in pool play. Cary also beat St. Ignatius, Belvidere North and Jacobs during their third straight run through the tournament in as many years. Boys Soccer: The Trojans used a hat trick from Kevin …
