Today is First Friday at Lakeside Legacy Foundation at the Historic Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake. The public is welcome to attend this free, family-friendly event from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dole, 401 Country Club Rd., Crystal Lake. Tonight's event will feature art works made by District 47 students and students from Creative Artistry School of Fine Arts. The McHenry County Youth Orchestra and District 47 students will provide the live music for tonight's gathering. It's First Friday at the Dole Mansion-Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake today. The Lakeside Legacy Foundation hosts First Friday gallery events from 5 to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of every month. Admission is free, and the exhibits are family friendly. The public is welcome to explore all the Dole Mansion and Arts Park have to offer the community. The April 5th First Friday Exhibits Include: Dole Gallery: "Inside the Box" exhibit by Joe and Kathleen Isacson. The Sage Gallery Exhibit: "Motion" by six artists. The Motion gallery expresses movement through art, and each individual artist will bring motion to life through their medium. The public had an opportunity to see the beautiful art of the Senior artists and designers.
Last night, Cary Grove High School hosted its second annual winter art show and this year they chose to name it "Anomoly." They found the name fitting for a show highlighting the work of 26 very different artists and designers. This art show was intended for people to have an opportunity to see the "Senior Artists" body of work. Wendy Guss, the design teacher and Head of the Art Department explained, "The Senior Artists have had four years of the art program." Students were allowed to plan the event and present the art from their own perspectives.
