Algonquin's Mouthwatering 28-Pound Chocolate Bunny

Morkes Chocolates in Algonquin has a yummy selection of chocolate bunnies and candies.

Morkes Chocolates's 28-pound chocolate bunny won't fit in an Easter basket, but it makes a cute centerpiece that can be cut up and enjoyed after the festivities. Easter is early this year, on March 31, but Morkes is ready with this bunny and many other choices. The shop has locations at 2755 Algonquin Road, Algonquin and 1890 Rand Road, Palatine.

Used Book Store Opens in Algonquin

Books of Southwind is located at 4069 Algonquin Road in Algonquin.

The Village Vintner Winery and Brewery, which formerly operated solely as a winery along Randall Road in Carpentersville, opened Friday just south of Algonquin Commons at 2380 Esplanade Drive. The “soft opening” was announced at 3 p.m. Friday and the business still “packed the house,” according to Village Vintner’s Facebook page. Steve Boyer, owner of Village Vintner, told the Elgin Courier in January that a drop in production forced him to close the doors of his Carpentersville winery on Dec. 31. Deciding to expand, and to build off an original concept he had for Village Vintner, Boyer moved forward with plans for a restaurant at the Algonquin …

Cute place with mediocre ambiance. We started with one server when we arrived at 9:00 for a glass of wine and an appetizer. Then another server came by because the other one was leaving. Overall not impressed with the wine. I tried 3 different reds and settled for a blend that tasted weak for a blend. I had 2 glasses of wine over 3 hours and obviously there is a high alcohol content, so be …   more ›
