Crystal Lake High School opened in 1924. Prior to that, all students in Crystal Lake and Nunda attended UnionMore School, now the site of Husmann Elementary School. When Crystal Lake South opened in 1978, Crystal Lake High School became Crystal Lake Central.

Home to more than 1,500 students, CLC's teams compete in the Fox Division of the Fox Valley Conference. The Tigers have won state titles in boys' cross country (1995) and girls' volleyball (2007).

The Continental Little League's home field is located at Crystal Lake Central High School just south of downtown. TheMore league has been in existence since 1952 and has teams for both boys and girls, ages 5-12. 
Samuel Johns Park

Named after Samuel Johns,  a former Crystal Lake police chief, the park covers eight acres. It has a bike pathMore running down the middle, and features a playground, basketball courts and recreational fields. The park is located next to Crystal Lake South High School and is set in a residential area.

Opened in 1978, Crystal Lake South (CLS) High School serves almost 2,000 students, making it the largest school inMore District 155. CLS's students come from Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills and Lakewood.

The school was given the Outstanding Service Award  in 2006 by the National Honor Society for its Operation Heifer Project. The project raised $7,000 to purchase livestock for underprivileged villages throughout the world.

CLS's teams compete in the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference. The Gators won the IHSA state title for boys golf in 1980.
