Note: The following information was obtained from Crystal Lake Police arrest reports. An arrest is only an accusation and does not constitute a conviction. An individual can only be found guilty in a court of law. Michael A. Ferrante, 22, 341 Lloyd St., Cary, was arrested May 2, and charged with reckless driving. Bond was set at $2,000. He is scheduled to appear in court June 18. Ryan P. Bromir, 19, 5904 Fairway Ln., Crystal Lake, was arrested May 4, and charged with reckless driving. Bromir posted his drivers license for bond and was released. He is scheduled to appear in court May 28. Donte L. A Crystal Lake man was arrested Saturday evening after police said he approached a teenage boy in the Coventry subdivision and offered him money for sex. Crystal Lake Police Cmr. Derek Hyrkas said a 16-year-old boy was walking on Coventry Lane at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11. The boy said an elderly man driving a silver Hyundai Santa Fe pulled over nearby and motioned for him to approach the car, Hyrkas said in a release. The teen walked over to the car, at which time the older man offered to pay him money to engage in a sexual act with him, Hyrkas said. The teenager declined the offer, and the elderly man drove away. A McHenry County resident discovered the outdoor grow operation and campsite on Saturday near Hebron.
A McHenry County resident discovered a campsite and about 2,000 pot plants in a dense wooded area in unincorporated Hebron. The resident came upon the campsite and two unidentified men on Saturday, May 11, located near Nicholas and Hillside roads outside of Hebron. The two men, described only as Hispanic, ran away, McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said in a press release. Sheriff deputies seized about 2,000 cannabis sativa plants from two cleared-out areas in the dense woods that were being prepared for planting. The sheriff's Narcotics Unit was called in to process the scene, and recovered fertilizer, soil, hoses, food, water and camping equipment. A Lake County Sheriff's deputy has been placed on administrative leave after being charged May 10 with solicitation of a sexual act and obstructing justice, according to a press release. Eric Francke, 33, has been a deputy with the sheriff's office since Sept. 2008. He is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Mundelein Police Department on April 11 of an on-going criminal investigation involving Francke, who was initially placed on administrative leave with pay. As of Monday, Francke was not receiving pay. Francke is free after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond. A Cary business owner pleaded guilty Monday to wire fraud in federal court in Rockford, according to a press release from the U.S. District Attorney's Office. Clare Thomas Anderson, 44, owned and operated Anderson International Global, LLC, as well as other companies in Illinois and Florida, and "between April 2009 and January 2013, he schemed to defraud over $1 million from more than 10 victims that did business with the companies he operated," according to the news release. Through these businesses, Anderson contracted to sell wood pulp and other raw materials to manufacturers, brokers and suppliers, which were usually located in foreign countries. The FBI on Saturday released the name of the man shot during an attempted bank robbery in Richmond on Friday morning, and announced charges against the other two men taken into custody. Tony Starnes, 45, of the 7800 block of S. Marquette Ave., Chicago, was killed at about 11:30 a.m. May 10, during a shootout with FBI officers in the parking lot of Associated Bank, 10910 N. Main St. (Route 12), in Richmond, the Daily Herald reports. Starnes was shot to death by FBI special agents after allegedly ramming a Honda Civic into one of their vehicles, the story said. Inverness Woman Charged in Decades Old Murder Former Inverness resident Jacquelyn Greco, 66, was charged with arranging the murder of her husband in 1979. Greco, of Crystal Falls, Mich. was charged with first degree murder of her husband, Carl Gaimari. Police said Greco was having an affair and planned her husband's death. Police said that Greco had a burglary staged. On April 30, 1979, two men entered the residence and stated they were robbing the home. Police said the two men ordered Greco and the couple's three children – ages 13, 5, and 2 – into a bedroom, tied them up and locked them in a closet. Before they closed the closet door, the men took a box off of a top shelf that contained two handguns owned by Gaimari. Police said that …

Two Richmond men were arrested earlier this week for weapons and multiple drug-related charges. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, which includes officers from the Lake in the Hills Police Department, conducted a joint narcotics investigation with the Palatine Police Department and the Illinois State Police North Central Narcotics Task Force (NCNTF). On Monday, May 6, members of the county's SWAT team, Narcotics Unit, K-9 Unit, and NCNTF conducted a search warrant at the address of 9702 N. Clark Rd. in Richmond, according to a release issued by Sheriff Keith Nygren. Cary's top cop is leaving for Buffalo Grove. Buffalo Grove has selected Cary Police Chief Steven Casstevens to replace its outgoing chief, according to Buffalo Grove Village Manager Dane Bragg. Casstevens has more than 30 years experience as a law enforcement and management professional. He will replace Steve Balinski, who retired as Buffalo Grove's chief in April after 36 years serving the village. Casstevens will assume his post in Buffalo Grove on June 10.
