Leroy R. Corbett Crystal Lake, Illinois October 25, 1936 - May 7, 2012 LeRoy R. Corbett, 75, of Crystal Lake and formerly of Rolling Meadows, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born October 25, 1936, in Chicago to the late Roy and Mary (nee Maple) Corbett, and married the late Carol A. Stephens on February 4, 1955. She passed away in 2011. LeRoy enjoyed spending time outdoors—especially fishing. He enjoyed playing pinochle and years ago had been a Boy Scott leader. LeRoy loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anna M. Polansky Crystal Lake May 14, 1916 - April 24, 2012 Born May 14, 1916 in Chicago to Martin and Hedwig Jurczak, Anna M. Polansky passed away April 24, 2012, peacefully at her home. Anna worked 28 years for Sears as a mail order-entry clerk. She provided a loving home and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, and sewing. She was born on March 14, 1955 in Chicago to Lewis and Patricia Kellogg. Laura graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School and Illinois State University. She was a teacher for 18 years with Crystal Lake School District 47. Donald “Don” J. Peacock September 13, 1934 - April 5, 2012 Born in Woodstock, IL, Don passed away at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, surrounded by his family. Don was employed by Nicor Gas Co from 1958 until his retirement in 1992. Don had a signed contract to play baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates prior to his service in the Army during the Korean conflict. Don was a member of the McHenry County Mens Bowling Association for thirty years, and bowled a 300 game in 1983. He was also a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame in McHenry County and the State of Illinois. Don was a sports enthusiast who coached Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, and American Legion Baseball in Crystal Lake, where he also was a youth bowling instructor at …

Brian D. Sonntag, 39, of Crystal Lake passed away March 19, 2012. Born May 10, 1972 in Carbondale to Vance and Ellen (Rennhak) Sonntag, Brian enjoyed snowboarding, riding motorcycles, fishing, sailing and truly loved skateboarding. He was an excellent cabinet maker and a fantastic cook. He attended Crystal Lake Central High School and worked as a cook at Duke's Alehouse. Jennifer Kearns touched many lives in her 19 years. The Huntley woman, who died last week, will be laid to rest Wednesday.
His name was Ben. I can’t remember his last name without digging through a yearbook packed away in some box somewhere. He died in a car accident the summer after graduation. This summer will be 25 years ago that he died. I didn’t know him well, but I remember him as a nice guy. I also remember what he looked like and how he was a friendly, popular, smart 18-year-old with a bright future. Jennifer Kearns’s former classmates will remember her too, years from now. The 19-year-old will be remembered as a friendly, kind girl with a bright smile. She will be remembered as forever young, even as they age and their memories blur. Death is never easy to understand but wrapping our minds around the death of someone so young is often incomprehensible…

Crystal Lake native and South graduate honored by community.
Crystal Lake flags were lowered to half-staff today and people gathered outside Crystal Lake South and throughout downtown as the body of USMC Captain Nathan McHone was brought to Davenport Funeral Home. McHone died Jan. 19 in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Visitation for McHone will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Davenport. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 S. McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. Parking will also be available at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1023 McHenry Ave. McHone will be buried in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary.
