A massive tornado touched down Monday in Moore, Okla., leaving a reported 51 people dead, including at least seven children. Those numbers are expected to continue to rise. Images show fires burning and buildings flattened. Many Americans are wondering how they can help the residents of this devastated town just outside Oklahoma City. Below is a list of how you can help right now, according to the Huffington Post: The Oklahoma City Red Cross will open shelters as first responders assess damage. The organization says the best way to help is to donate at RedCross.org or text REDCROSS to 90999. The Salvation Army has mobilized a number of emergency relief services in Oklahoma, including Moore, to dispense food, hydration and emotional support…
All of Illinois is in the "slight risk" category for severe storms.
McHenry County and several other counties in Illinois are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 3 a.m. The following counties are included in the watch, according to the National Weather Service: McHenry, Kane, Lake, Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Ogle, Putnam, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will and Winnebago. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center placed all of Illinois in the "slight risk" category for severe weather for Monday. Most of Illinois, with the exception of far western portions of the state, is in the "slight risk" category for Tuesday.

Russell K. Gordon, 48, of rural McHenry, was arrested at his home Saturday, May 18, by special agents of the U.S. State Department Diplomatic Security Service.
A McHenry area man was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly treatening U.S. Embassy officials in Serbia as well as Serbians in Chicago over a visa dispute regarding his Serbian wife. Russell K. Gordon, 48, of rural McHenry, was arrested at his home May 18, by special agents of the U.S. Department of Diplomatic Security Service (DDS) and FBI. He is charged with allegedly making threats to kill the U.S. Ambassador in Serbia and Serbians in Chicago because of the visa dispute, according to Randall Samborn, spokesman for the Asst. U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago. Gordon was scheduled to appear in court on Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cox in the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago, Samborn stated in a press release. …

Help Crystal Lake Patch get to 1,800 "likes" on Facebook Several local boys track and field athletes will be headed to the state meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston this Thursday through Saturday. The Crystal Lake Central boys track team placed fifth overall with 49 points at the Huntley boys sectional track and field meet on Friday, May 17. Grant Community High School came in first place with 83 points with Huntley High School finishing in second place with 56 points, according to preliminary results posted on the IHSA website. Living like a movie star for a week, Bridget Brown of Darien had a small part in a movie with Miley Cyrus. Brown also has her own consulting business, works as a dental assistant’s assistant and has many more jobs in life few of us would ever conquer. Having Down syndrome, the 27-year-old woman is considered to be disabled, but you would never know by the full life she leads. Brown was the first person with a disability included in her school district and is a strong advocate of inclusion. Among her dislikes is hearing someone be insulted. "Don’t call people retarded," Brown says.
