Weekender: Homecoming Festivities for CL South and Prairie Ridge

Happy Friday, Crystal Lake and Cary!

There's plenty to see and do this fall weekend. The key maybe working around the weather. 

Today, Friday, promises to be another gorgeous fall day. It's expected to be 74 degrees with lots of sunshine.

The afternoon should be perfect for the homecoming parades planned by Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge high schools.

I remember both schools had cold and rainy parade days last year so hopefully they will get a break this year!

Crystal Lake South's Pep Rally is at 1:53 p.m. at Ken Bruhn Football field, according to the CL South website. 

The Gators Homecoming Parade starts at 3:40 p.m. at Woodscreek Park, corner of Ackaman and Golf Course roads, and travels north on Golf Course and then east on Concord Drive and ending at the school, 1200 S. McHenry Ave. 

The Gators Varsity football team takes on Johnsburg High School at 7 p.m. The school's Homecoming Dance is 7 p.m. Saturday.

Prairie Ridge's Pep Rally starts at 2:10 p.m., and its parade starts at 4 p.m. the school, 6000 Dvorak Dr., and travels through the nearby neighborhood. The school holds a block party at 4:30 p.m.

The sophomore football team kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Coronation of the 2013 Homecoming King and Queen is at 7 p.m., followed by the Varsity football game at 7:30 p.m. when the Wolves host Dundee-Crown.

PR's Homecoming dance is at 7 p.m. Saturday night. 

Saturday is the expected to have a high of 79 degrees with a 60 percent chance for rain. Showers are forecast for the morning (sorry, you poor people who have to brave Lippold Park for soccer games!) and scattered thunderstorms could move in later in the day.

Sunday is looking good with a high temperature forecast of 66 degrees and mostly sunny skies.
