The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a wind chill advisory effective from 9 p.m. Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23.

A strong arctic frontal boundary will arrive across Northern Illinois late Wednesday afternoon and will stretch across Northwest Indiana by this evening.
Temperatures will fall quickly to about 0 degrees behind the front, and continue to plunge to -20 by 10 p.m., according to the NWS.

Overnight windchill temps are expected to reach -22 to -28.

The low temperatures combined with gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph will create dangerously cold wind chill values of -20 to -25 degrees by Wednesday evening and nearing -30 by early Thursday morning, the NWS warns.

The fresh powder-like snow expected to fall during the day on Wednesday along with the gusty winds will result in areas of blowing and drifting snow through Thursday morning.
