McHenry County Under Wind Chill Advisory; Temps to Plunge Below Zero

Wind chill temperatures could plummet to 20 and 30 degrees BELOW zero in McHenry County tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for McHenry County and the surrounding areas until 5 a.m. Thursday. 

Temperatures will fall below 0 this evening, and moderate northwest winds will result in wind chills ranging between -20 and -30 degrees, according to the advisory.

Such conditions can result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if proper precautions are not taken. Those people who must venture outdoors should be certain to wear hat and gloves along with heavy coat, the NWS states. 

Counties included in the advisory include Kane, Lake, Cook, Boone, DeKalb, Winnebago and several others in Northern Illinois.
