Freezing Rain Advisory through Friday Afternoon

Motorists and pedestrians should use caution on roads and walkways as icy conditions develop.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a freezing rain advisory from midnight tonight through noon Friday, Dec. 20, for the Crystal Lake and Cary area. 

Rain is expected to move into the area late Thursday evening, and temperatures will fall below freezing after midnight, the NWS predicts. The freezing rain is expected to end mid-day on Friday, and light freezing drizzle may linger into the afternoon.

Ice may accumulate tonight and Friday morning, with up to one-tenth of an inch possible glaze possible.

Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of the potential for ice to develop on area roads and walkways. Drivers should be prepared for slippery conditions, slow down and use caution while driving, the NWS reports.
