On Angels' Wings Hosts Dog Luau and Pet Adoption Day

Pedicures for pets, and dog tags for humans.

There’s something new for everyone at the All About Dogs Luau and Pet Adoption Event on Saturday at On Angels’ Wings in Crystal Lake.

The day promises to be dog-gone fun as the Luau gets under way in the parking lot outside the On Angels’ Wings thrift store, 5186 Route 14, Crystal Lake. The store is located just west of Pingree Road.

Several rescue homes and shelter representatives will have adoptable pets on hand, according to On Angels' Wings.

Activities, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., include agility training, treats of all kinds, $5 pet “peddies,” $5 dog baths, $10 pet portraits and free games for adults and their canine companions. Bring along a photograph of your beloved furry friend, and have the image etched on a “human” tag for you to wear.

DJ Mark will be spinning the hits for the Dancing with Dogs event. Vendors will be handing out dog food samples.

On Angels’ Wings, a not-for-profit organization founded in 2007, rescues abandoned animals and provides them with safe shelter while they are rehabilitated and retrained.

OAW operates the Crystal Lake thrift store as a way to help support their rescue efforts, according to the OAW website.
