Cary Woman Aims to Raise Awareness About Crohn's

Volunteers will be at Jewel Osco in Cary collecting funds, raffling prizes and giving away free pizza throughout the May 13-15 weekend.

A Cary woman has been diagnosed with Crohn's since 2006 but hasn’t given up the fight.

Adina Fountain, 36 is planning to raise awareness about the disease through local fundraisers. “We’re just not raising money, we want to raise awareness about the disease.” Fountain said.

Crohn’s affects the intestines, which could cause abdominal pain, weight loss and vomiting.  Fountain said she has many complications from Crohn’s, including neuropathy and arthritis.

“I can’t work anymore,” she said. “I have to change my whole diet.”
