Bye Bye Birdie

The final two performances of Bye Bye Birdie at Jacobs High School, 2601 Bunker Hill Drive in Algonquin, will be held this weekend. The shows will be at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Cost is $8 for general seating for adults and $5 for children, students and seniors. The District 300 Foundation has more information on .

Island Party in Lake in the Hills

Bring the family out to village hall, 600 Harvest Gate in Lake in the Hills, Saturday evening for a music and entertainment for the kids, according to the village of Lake in the Hills website. Starting at 6 p.m., beverages and Jersey Mike’s subs will be sold and there will be games for children to participate in. The music will start at 7 p.m. with a Caribbean show featuring steel drums, percussion and vocals, according to the village’s website.

Kid’s Dog Show

The Cary Park District will host a kid’s dog show at 11 a.m. Saturday at , 1170 Silver Lake Road in Cary, according to the village of Cary’s website. Categories include smallest, largest, best-looking, best costume, best trick and “Best in Show.” Those interested in participating should register at the community center, 255 Briargate Road in Cary.

Seussical, Jr. Comes to Woodstock Opera House

This musical features many beloved characters from Dr. Seuss books and consists of a cast of 4th to 8th graders who will perform popular skits, including, “Oh, the Thinks You Can Thinks” and “Green Eggs and Ham,” according to the Woodstock Opera House website. Shows this weekend include 2 and 7 p.m. shows Friday, 2 and 7 p.m. shows on Saturday and a 3 p.m. show on Sunday. Tickets are $6 for all seats. The area is packed with your choice of farmers markets over the weekend. Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch has in Huntley, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Cary and Dundee.

Algonquin Summer Concert Thursday

Liberty’s Tooth, a pop music band, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in in Algonquin. Algonquin’s summer concerts are free. Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch has on the summer concerts.

Devin Hester Charity Autograph Event

 Chicago Bears player Devin Hester will appear at Joseph’s Marketplace at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in Crystal Lake. Hester will pose for photographs and sign autographs to assist the Sideline Marketing charity event benefitting the Keller family of Marengo. Sean Keller, 4, is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is undergoing treatments at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. Sideline will donate 100 percent of the profits to the charity. Joseph’s Marketplace is located at 29 Crystal Lake Plaza, off Route 14, in Crystal Lake. 815-444-8500.

Animal House Shelter’s Pawfest

The no kill shelter, located at 13005 Ernestic Road, Huntley, is hosting Pawfest for pets and their humans. It’s a day of celebration and fun with food, K9 police demonstrations, face painting, pet photographer and a dunk tank. The shelter will also have low cost vaccines and microchipping.
