'American Pickers' Star Stops by Barrington Store

Danielle Colby Cushman visits with the staff of Grassroots over Memorial Day weekend.

A reality TV star made an appearance at Barrington’s Grassroots store this weekend.

Danielle Colby Cushman of the History Channel’s American Pickers stopped by to visit with Todd Rhodes and his staff on Sunday. Cushman is well-known for the show, which profiles the lives of two men who refurbish unique and often historical items and sell them in their shop.

Cushman and her husband recently opened a new store — 4 Miles 2 Memphis — in LeClaire, Iowa, and want to feature some of Rhode’s merchandise.

“I’ve known her for about a year,” Rhodes said of Cushman. “I met Mike (Wolfe of American Pickers) and then was able to get a hold of Danielle. We had a few meetings and she liked our concept.”

The Grassroots department inside of 4 Miles 2 Memphis will feature many of the items sold here in Barrington.

“All-American products, all kinds of printed tees, artisan-type jewelry and accessories,” Rhodes said. “All kinds of things that are pretty unique.”

In addition to the Grassroots department inside of Cushman’s store, Rhodes and his team will have merchandise inside of a custom bike shop in Iowa.
