The Friday evening snowfall wasn't too impressive - only somewhere between 2 to 3 inches - but it was enough to send area children, teens and adults flocking to area sledding hills on Saturday.
431 Walkup Rd., Crystal Lake, was packed with sledders and snowboarders.
By Saturday afternoon, much of the snow had been worn away and the grass could easily be seen. But the hillside was slick and icy, and sledders had no problem gaining speed on their way down the slope.
The National Weather Service snowfall totals for Northern Illinois reported 3.2 inches of snow recorded in Woodstock, about 2.4 inches in Bull Valley and 2.6 inches measured in Algonquin. No recordings were available for Crystal Lake and Cary.
