Corey Meyer (29-8), senior, won his weight class (130 pounds) at sectionals with a 8-5 decision and is heading down state.
Meyer set up his championship match by defeating ninth ranked in the
state, sophomore Wade Lardy from McHenry, in a 2-0 decision, which officially
punched his ticket to the individual state wrestling meet at Champaign
Urbaba on Feb.19.
On the road to the state final, Meyer racked up another win at the sectional championship match, defeating senior Luke Gaeth from Libertyville.
In one of the tougher weight classes and sectional assignments in the state, Meyer
wrestled Gaeth aggressively to come away with the victory.
