Power Outage Delays MCYSA

Lippold loses power while coaches, players, fans and organizers wait on ComEd.

A power outage hit Lippold Park during the Saturday, and it wasn't because of masterful pitching.

The power went out Saturday afternoon, causing the games to be played without scoreboards and the concession stand to use a generator to keep the food from spoiling.

But it wasn't just the games that suffered, the 15 and Under opening ceremonies were scheduled for 6:30 p.m. but without power, they couldn't start on time. According to ComEd, power was expected to be restored by 5 p.m. although power was not restored until approximately 7:30 p.m.

Power was also lost off of nearby Chestnut Dr. Friday. ComEd trucks were again on the scene Friday evening in the subdivision just west of Lippold Park.

These outages come on the heels of outages throughout Crystal Lake after the recent storms. Thousands of Crystal Lake residents went without power for days following the July 22 storm as ComEd worked to restore power to over 800,000 sites across northern Illinois.
