MCC Men Build Momentum, Women Notch First Win

Both MCC teams come up big over Harper.

It has been a long time coming for ’s women’s basketball team, but they finally secured their first win of the season.

Alyssa Haayer had 21 points and pulled down 24 rebounds as the Scots won for the first time since the second-to-last game of last season in a 60-37 win over Harper College.

The two teams went back and forth in the first half with MCC taking a 23-15 lead into halftime before pulling away in the second half against a Harper team that had just five players and had two players foul out in the second half with the last minute being played 5-on-3.

Jerrica Graham scored 11 points while Chrishaya Dixon added 15 rebounds for MCC (1-7), who will play Joliet Junior College at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday night inside MCC’s Tartan Gym.

MCC Men's Team Keeps on Winning

With a big game coming up Tuesday against Joliet Junior College, McHenry County College’s men’s basketball team looked to build momentum Thursday night at home against Harper College.

After a back-and-forth first 30 minutes, the Scots were finally able to pull away to notch a 79-63 victory.

Jemell Kent scored 14 to lead four Scots (5-3) in double figures. Jermarkus Lovett and Eric Wilde each had 12 points while DeShawn Wash added 10 in the victory. Wilde also had nine rebounds.

MCC will face Joliet at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in MCC’s Tartan Gym. The game can be seen on MCC’s athletics website at www.mchenry.edu/athletics.
