MCC Baseball Signs Three Prairie Ridge Players for Next Season

Coel, Martini and Enwiya sign on to play for coach Hoss Johnson and Scots in 2012

McHenry County College’s baseball team always strives to be the landing spot for McHenry County baseball players after high school.

The Scots announced this week that three members of Prairie Ridge’s baseball team will be heading to MCC for next season in pitcher Zack Coel, outfielder Alex Martini and infielder Adam Enwiya.

MCC coach Hoss Johnson said his program has added three potentially great players.

“The coaching staff here at MCC is very excited to have these three quality athletes joining our program,” Johnson said. “They come from an outstanding high school program and have been well schooled in the game. We here at McHenry County College hope to develop them further and help them reach the highest level possible.”

Johnson added that the work of assistant coaches Jared Wacker and Tom Carle was instrumental in getting the three Wolves to commit to play for MCC in 2012.

“Jared and Tom were extremely vital in getting these guys in the door,” Johnson said. “We have an outstanding coaching staff that has a lot to offer future college athletes in the area.”

Last season, Coel was one of the cogs for Prairie Ridge in tying for the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division title with a 7-1 record and an ERA of under 2 in a little over 60 innings pitched.

The Scots came into this weekend’s series of games in Missouri with a 1-5 record in 2011.

In other spring athletic news at MCC, MCC’s softball team will begin their spring trip to Florida on March 24 where the team will spend a week playing teams from around the country while the men’s tennis team will begin their season on March 27.

The team is led by returning national qualifier Craig Greenwald, who went undefeated in region play last season.
