Heritage Fair

27th Annual Heritage Fair

The McHenry County Historical Society presents its free annual Heritage Fair on Sunday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Society’s museum grounds 6422 Main Street in Union. This year’s theme is “Hats Off to Home Towns.” Visitors are encouraged to wear fun and unique-themed hats while visiting the fair. In the morning, there will be a pie baking contest at 10:30 a.m. and cake walks. The popular barbershop quartet, The Clef Hangers will be here from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. along with AQS-certified quilt appraiser, artist, and teacher Sandy Schweitzer who will demonstrate a quilt bed turning at noon and 3:00 p.m.


Throughout the day there will be sales of baked goods, vintage clothing, garden plants, and an indoor used book and white elephant sale. An antiques auction takes place at 1p.m. on the museum lawn with auctioneer Russ Davis who will be auctioning off a wide variety of pre-1950’s antiques and collectibles. Freddy Fredrick’s popular magic show will also be held in the afternoon from 2-4 p.m. Visitors are invited indoors to view the museum’s featured exhibit honoring the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts. Admission is free. The residents of Union will also be holding garage sales throughout the Village. Visit www.mchsonline.org for more information.
