Saturday Clinics
Our clinic season is wrapping up with only 3 more Saturdays to go. This Saturday's guest trainer will be native Crystal Laker Joey Maurer.
Joey Maurer was a member of the first travel baseball program in Crystal Lake which lead to Crystal Lake Travelers program (now CL Cardinals). He played high school ball at Crystal Lake south and posted a 24-7 record (13-2 in his senior year when the Gators placed 4th in state) and set a single season strikeout record with 159 K's. He was named the NW Heralds Player of the Year and was chosen one of 26 Illinois All-State players. After 1 year at M.C.C. Joey was chosen to play for Team U.S.A. which captured the broze medal in the Cali, Columbia in 1995. He finished his college career at Bellevue University in Omaha and participated in back to back NAIA world series. After college, Joey coached for M.C.C. and also signed with the Schaumburg Flyers. 2 days after signing with the Flyers, Joey was traded to the Quebec City Capitales where he played two months and posted 9 strikeouts and 6 hits in 6.1 innings of work. After his professional career Joey has taught all-skills camps and individual pitching lessons at Player's Choice in LITH and is now coaching his own son in Crystal Lake Baseball.

The final two clinics (April 2nd and 9th) will be taught by Dino Moran of 3D Baseball Training in Elk Grove.
Dino played college baseball with Kishwaukee Jr. College and Cumberland University. He was drafted in the 12th round by the Pittsburge Pirates as an infielder in the June 1986 draft. Coach Dino has worked with the Chicago White Sox Training Centers for 6 years and was the lead infield instructor for the Chicago Public Schools Coaches Clinic held at US Cellular Field. Coach Dino was also the head sophomore coach for 5 seasons at John Hersey High School, Assistant varsity coach for 1 season and moved on to coach Stevenson high School for 6 seasons.
