CL Central's Isaiah Mosher Wins Long Jump, 100-Meter Dash at Sectional Meet

Crystal Lake Central High School placed fifth overall at the Huntley High School sectional meet on Friday, May 17.

Several local boys track and field athletes will be headed to the state meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston this Thursday through Saturday. 

The Crystal Lake Central boys track team placed fifth overall with 49 points at the Huntley boys sectional track and field meet on Friday, May 17. Grant Community High School came in first place with 83 points with Huntley High School finishing in second place with 56 points, according to preliminary results posted on the IHSA website.

Isaiah Mosher had an impressive sectional performance, qualifying for state in two events. Mosher won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97 seconds and also won the long jump.

Central's Alex Baker qualified for state in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:16.58.

Cary-Grove's 4x400-meter relay team placed first at the sectional meet, qualifying for state with a time of 3:23.43. Michael Gleeson, a senior at Cary-Grove, is headed to state after placing first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.35.

Here is a full list of those who qualified for the upcoming state meet: 

Crystal Lake Central

  • Isiah Mosher, senior, finished first in the long jump with a mark of 22-07.50; Mosher also finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97 seconds
  • The 4x800-meter relay finished third with a time of 7:56.23
  • Alex Baker, senior, finished first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:16.58. 

Crystal Lake South

  • The 4x800-meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 7:56.70.

Cary Grove

  • Ricky Hurley, sophomore, finished third in the shot put with a mark of 53-11.00; Hurley finished second in the discuss thow with a mark of 176-08.00
  • Michael Gleeson, senior, finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.35
  • Michael Saxon, sophomore, placed second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 39.749 seconds. 
  • The Cary-Grove High School 4x400-meter relay team finished in first with a time of 3:23.43.
