Cary-Grove Swimmers Qualify for State Meet

The state final meet will be held this weekend.

Swimmers on the Cary-Grove co-op team will head to the state final meet this weekend.  

The team qualified in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.90 and the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.65 at the Barrington sectional meet last weekend, according to the Illinois High School Association website. 

Cary-Grove senior Michael Hamann had one of the fastest qualifying times in thge 200-yard medley, finishing in 1:53.95, according to the IHSA website. His time was the fourth fastest qualifying time in that event.

Hamann also qualified for state in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.14 seconds.

  • Jacobs High School senior Josh DeDina qualified in the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 59.41 seconds and in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.02, according to the Illinois High School Association website. 
  • Jacobs High School junior Alex Reinbrecht qualified in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.98 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:37.47. 
  • Huntley High School senior Matthew Haage qualified in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.90 seconds, according to the IHSA website. 

The state final meet will be held on Feb. 22 and 23 at New Trier High School in Winnetka.
