Cary-Grove Sports Roundup

This week's Trojans sports results.

Here’s a look at how Cary-Grove’s athletic teams fared this week…

Football: Cary clinched their eighth straight playoff berth with a 49-0 win over Dundee-Crown Friday. Quinn Baker ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns while Connor Carlson had 106 yards rushing and two scores of his own. The win moved C-G to 6-2 on the season going into Friday’s season finale at undefeated Prairie Ridge.

Volleyball: The Trojans defeated McHenry on Tuesday in two games to begin their week. Ashley Rosch had ten kills and 13 digs for C-G. On Thursday, Cary clinched at least a share for the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division title with a two-game win over Huntley, who had beat the Trojans earlier in the season. Rosch had 11 kills to lead Cary.

Girls Tennis: Cary played in the Fox Valley Conference tournament on Saturday, finishing fourth as a team. Beth Hughes and Arley Baker finished third and qualified for this week’s state meet.

Boys Golf: Jarrett and Justin Kinney played in the Class 3A Fremd Sectional on Monday looking to advance to the state meet but neither advanced.

Girls Golf: On Monday, the Crystal Lake Central co-op team played in the Class AA Buffalo Grove Sectional where the Tigers finished tied for fifth place and Lexi Harkins advanced to the state tournament. Harkins finished her state tournament on Saturday at 7-over par, which was good enough to finish third in the state.

Boys Cross Country: On Saturday at the Fox Valley Conference Meet, Dustin Throw took ninth place to pace C-G, who finished seventh as a team.

Girls Cross Country: The Fox Valley Conference Meet was Saturday where the Trojans finished second as a team. Talia Duzey finished ninth to lead Cary while Kathie Wollney was 11th.

Girls Swimming: Friday afternoon, Cary defeated Huntley as Lauren Curtis won the 100 and 200 IM and was part of the 400 freestyle relay. Melissa Rose won the 100 breaststroke and joined Curtis on the 400 relay victory. Rose was also part of the 200 medley relay win.
