A look at what Trojans athletics over the past week.

Here is a look at what happened over the past week in athletics…..

Volleyball: The Trojans opened their 2011 season with a 25-15, 25-12 win over Grayslake North as Melanie Jereb led Cary with nine kills while Ashley Rosch added eight.

Saturday brought the Jacobs Tournament and an opportunity for C-G to show they were still in contention for another state title.

Cary went 5-0 on the day, defeating Stevenson 25-17, 25-16 in the title game.

It was Cary’s second win of the day against the Patriots after defeating them earlier in the day in pool play. Cary also beat St. Ignatius, Belvidere North and Jacobs during their third straight run through the tournament in as many years.

Boys Soccer: The Trojans used a hat trick from Kevin Wilde while Wilde’s brother Eric scored and had two assists in a 5-0 win over Grayslake North at the Grant Invitational on Tuesday.

On Saturday at the Grant Invitational, Cary added two more victories to their resume with a 9-0 win over Harvard and a 5-0 win over Grant.

Eric Wilde scored five times against Harvard while brother Kevin had two goals in the win over Grant as Cary improved to 3-1 on the season.

Girls Tennis: Cary swept past Woodstock North 7-0 on Tuesday as No. 2 and 3 singles players Kaitlin Kownick and Bridget Dorsey each won their matches by 6-0, 6-1 scores.

On Thursday, C-G swept past Johnsburg 7-0 to improve to 3-1 on the season. On Saturday, the Trojans hosted the Cary-Grove Invitational.

C-G went 2-1 on the day, defeating Antioch 4-1 and Larkin 5-0 while losing to Mundelein 3-2. Beth Hughes and Arley Bayer went 3-0 on the day at No. 1 doubles for Cary.

Boys Golf: Jarrett Kinney shot 2-over par 37 as C-G lost in Fox Valley Conference play to McHenry on Tuesday. Brandon DiBlasi added a 38 in the loss. Cary responded on Thursday with a 14-stroke win over Crystal Lake Central.

Girls Golf: The Crystal Lake Central co-op team which includes Cary-Grove started their week Monday with a victory over Johnsburg as Lexi Harkins shot a 2-under 33.

On Tuesday, Central defeated Marengo for their second win in as many days. Harkins shot a 3-over 39 to lead Central.

Wednesday brought a much-anticipated matchup between Harkins and Hampshire’s Connie Ellett. Harkins shot a 4-under par 32 to defeat Ellett by five strokes and lead Central to the victory.

Cross Country: The Trojans were in the Crystal Lake South Invitational on Saturday for their lone meet of the week.

On the boys’ side, Dustin Throw finished sixth to lead Cary to a sixth-place finish in the 17-team event while the girls’ team finished 14th overall.
