Cary-Grove Graduate Completes First Season of Collegiate Soccer

Illinois College freshman Evan Baker started all 18 games and scored eight goals for the Illinois College Blueboys soccer team.

Evan Baker, of Cary, and a 2011 graduate of has completed his first varsity soccer season at Illinois College in Jacksonville

Baker helped the Blueboys finish with an 8-7-3 record. He started all 18 games, led the team in shots (32), shots on goal (24), game winning goals (3) and scoring (eight goals/ one assist). 

Baker’s eight goals also tied him for third during the regular season of the Midwest Conference.

He also was recognized at Athlete of the Week at Illinois College on Oct. 25.

 At Cary-Grove, Baker earned a spot on Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association's All Sectional Team, the Northwest Herald's All Area First Team, the Fox Valley All Conference Team, the Daily Herald's Honorable Mention All Area Team, was the Northwest Herald's Player of the Week and also Offensive Player of the Year for the Cary-Grove Varsity Soccer Team during his senior season.
