Crystal Lake Antique Mall Puts Antiques, Collectibles, Memorabilia Under One Roof

Crystal Lake Antique Mall is packed with some things old, new, vintage and collectible.

In honor of Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, Crystal Lake-Cary Patch is featuring unique and local businesses in our own neighborhood.

By supporting small local businesses, you support everything that's great about our communities. And the best part is the money that's spent here, stays here.

So, this Nov 30 (and the rest of the holiday season), don't forget to "Get Out and Shop Small."

Crystal Lake Antique Mall

2 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake
Opened October 2012

When Thelma Flagg and her daughters decided to open an antique mall at the corner of Williams Street and Crystal Lake Avenue, they were hopeful the business would thrive.

They had no idea, however, how quickly their 8,000-square-foot space would fill with vendors selling collectibles, antiques, vintage items and memorabilia.

"We held two dealer open houses, and we were immediately half full," Flagg said. "And a lot of these vendors network with one another, and the word spread."

The 10 rooms inside the mall are nearly filled, with only a couple small display spaces available. Flagg strives to bring in a variety of items so there's not duplication, and she has worked to spread the offerings throughout the store.

"Every dealer has a specialty that they collect, and that's why we have a wide variety of items," she said.

The mall's furthest vendor hales from Michigan and brings in the "Man Cave" decor items such old-wood furnitures, signs, a mounted deer head and stuffed ducks and pheasants.

The mall's offerings include china, antique Christmas ornaments, old records, books, furniture, cans, milk bottles, and even canned pickles and jams from a small company in Des Plaines.
